Walkability and Urban Built Environments—A Systematic Review of Health Impact Assessments (HIA)

Publisher: BioMed Central Ltd
Year: 2023

In this resource, walkability and its impact on health were systematically reviewed through health impact assessments (HIAs). While most HIAs focused on the positive effects of improving walkability, particularly through active and public transport, other aspects of walkability were less explored. Overall, the studies showed beneficial impacts on various health outcomes, including reduced mortality and non-communicable diseases, with some exceptions reporting no improvement or negative effects.
